Artist's Comments

This was taken during the monster-sized thunderstorm/tordado that happened in the Chattanooga area yesterday. I had just gotten home and it was in full swing. I admit that it was a bit scary, but something about it screamed photo op...so I took a picture.

Title is a song by the Danish prog band Rumskib. Check them out HERE :D

I love the contrast between the brightness of what looks like fire and the darkness of the trees. I truly does look like it is on fire. I also love how your eye doesn't focus on on specific part of the photo rather it's led from one side to the other. It, in a way, reminds me of a fairy tale land gone wrong. I can imagine this in a world of the ORIGINAL Grimm Fairy Tales where not everything had a happy ending. The cropping on this is really well done. I don't think it would have had the same impact if it were set further back.

it was pretty isolated, so it didn't affect everyone quite the same, but the whole Hixson area got slammed :(
